This was a special shoot for me. I have been photographing Jessica and Ken for a while now. I took photos of them while they were dating, I did their wedding, and now, I get to photograph them and their first son! What an honor! The morning was exceptionally chilly, but they were *fantastic* troopers! And little Ken did mind at all!!! I, on the other hand, was scared to death that he would freeze to death...but this is due to the fact that I have an irrational fear of my own son turning into a block of ice. I'm not kidding Internet, that kid could be S-W-E-A-T-I-N-G and I'd put a blanket on him!

Our Little Boy
Five months ago, I was standing in his room, rubbing my belly, terrified of becoming a mother. I was scared of what was coming. Not of the birth, but of...afterwards. What am I supposed to do with a baby? Everyone told me I'd be fine, but I wasn't so sure about that. I was petrified that I wouldn't have that ooey-gooey feeling all women say you get when you see your child for the first time. I was legitimately afraid that he wouldn't like me. What if I just wasn't cut out for this? Then, it happened...the switch flipped. All my previous concerns melted away...and a whole new crop grew in their place.
How do I keep him safe outside of my belly?
Is he getting enough to eat?
Is he supposed to sleep this much?
Is he still breathing?
Within a few weeks I started to mellow out. We were starting to understand each other as mother and child. We were developing our own little language. I was falling deeper and deeper in love with him.
I love his little blonde hairs,
his full, bright red lips,
his toothless smile.
I love the way he buries his head into my shoulder when someone speaks to him,
& the way his eyes seem to look deep into my soul.
I love his giggles & squeals,
& the way he wraps his arms tight around my neck when I pick him up.
I love it when he rests his head on my chest, sucks his thumb, & goes to sleep.
I love him more and more everyday.
He is my greatest accomplishment.
The past five months have flown by. I know I will soon blink and he will be all grown up. But for now, I will enjoy this time, with my sweet baby Wyatt Boy.

Kane & Lyssa
This past Tuesday I had the pleasure of photographing Kane & Lyssa. They are an awesome couple with a sweet sense of style. Lyssa would say she needs "help" in that department, but I disagree! Kane is incredibly smart and seems fearless {he was jumping fences and chasing geese to get the shots!}. I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of this shoot. Thanks for making it a fun day guys! Here are a few of my personal favorite photos taken...I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

{Kane picked these flowers for his sweet wife}
Kane & Lyssa also have this wicked house...so I arrived early to snap a few shots:
I hope you enjoyed this little preview. You can see more at my Facebook page, SMG Photography and if you are interested in booking me, email me at SMGPhotography2010@gmail.com!

The Williams Family
A while back, Elise contacted me about doing photos in the fall for her little family. I was stoked! This last Saturday was the big day. We had beautiful weather and a baby that was behaving wonderfully. My husband and I met Kirk and Elise at our church and they are two of the most giving people. Elise is the hospitality QUEEN and Kirk is a great family man! I had fun you guys! Here are a few personal favs of the day:

Daniel & Kelsey
On the first of October I packed up my fancy camera bag {okay, okay, it's my old backpack from High School} and headed out to take photos of Daniel & Kelsey. It was their first year anniversary of marriage and by watching them, you would think they got married yesterday. They are so full of love for each other that it just oozes out of them! Most couples I photograph are shy and embarrassed to kiss in front of the camera, but with these two, I was missing kisses left and right!! Not to mention that their style is to die for!! Kelsey is absolutely GORGEOUS inside AND out and Daniel is one of the nicest guys around. They are so sweet that they even invited my husband and I out for dinner with our 4 month old afterward...on their anniversary! These two are the greatest!! Needless to say, I had a blast on our shoot and can't wait
to do more with them in the future!! Here are a few of my personal favorites of the day:

It's Been A While
Hello Readers! Are you still out there? Yes, I'm here...sitting in the rubble that was once my living room. There's a story there and I'll get to it, but first, some personal thoughts.
I'm scared of what I thought would happen, might happen. Vague enough for you? If you're confused, mosey on over to here to read about the fore-mentioned thought. It's not for lack of things to write about, or share with you, but my time-management has been very poor lately. I've filled my plate to the brim and am having trouble eating all of it. I have sooo, so, sooooooo many projects my head is spinning!!
I'm not going to lie. I kinda like it.
My creative nature has gotten the best of me once again, and now that we've been living in our small apartment for nearly 5 years now, the itch to completely change my style is becoming unbearable. I've slowly been changing things around, but now I feel compelled to thoroughly make the switch. That's why I have so many projects. Here's the list:
1) 7 frames to sand and repaint
2) Paint living room wall
3) Deep clean the newly found antique buffet
4) Organize items for a garage sale
5) Decide on artwork for frame(s)
6) Organize kitchen cabinets
7) Clean and paint flea market lamps
8) Make slipcovers for the GI-NORMOUS speakers
9) Make a runner for the buffet
10) Find homes for all the displaced items
11) Ramp up my photography
I could seriously go on. Some of these projects are bigger than others (obviously) and some take more money than others. I think my biggest stumbling block at this point is my lack of funds to complete these tasks. Which is a bummer. Patience is not my thing. BUT - when I do get these things done, I will share them with you, I promise. Just a little bit longer and hopefully I will have some things to share with you. Don't forget about me! I'm still here, just trying to pull some stuff together.
That brings me to my pile of rubble. I'm in the process of getting things prepared for a garage sale. We had one last week and made some decent money, but didn't sell nearly all of our things. So back in the living room it all sits until this weekend. Hopefully we can get rid of the rest of it and I can have my home back! All these piles and pathways just suck my motivation to do anything else right out of me...I could NEVER be a hoarder! So, let's hope for GREAT weather on Saturday and that folks are ready to spend some money!! All the proceeds will go towards my ever-growing list of things that I want to accomplish - so hopefully some more pretty blogs are on the way. Thanks for bearing with me while things are quiet and I will see you soon.
