smg photography

I've waited a long time for this day. Well, I guess I've waited a long time for BOTH of these days. To some, it may seem like little things, but to me, these things represent many, many feelings.

The list could go on...but I'll stop. The first big announcement...MY WEBSITE IS LIVE!! Why don't you go mosey on over and check it out here. It's quite fabulous and completely me! I need to put some finishing touches regarding content, but the bones are there and they.are.amazing. If you're interested who designed it, just leave me a comment and I'll get you his info.

The second announcement is that my business cards are here! They look simply fantastic! They are exactly what I wanted and couldn't be happier with them! Well, here, have a look yourself:

So that's my big news for now! I hope you like my new website and look for more posts soon!

The Siegs

This was a fun session for me. Jenni is a fellow photography friend of mine, so you'd think I'd be a little intimidated to photograph a photographer. But actually, for me, it's funner!!
{is that even a word?!}
She knows how to work it. Now she would FULLY disagree, but just take a look at the photos yourself! Her daughter is friggin' adorable and her husband, Peter, is just as comfortable behind the lens as she was. They were a totally laid back family so we just kept shooting and shooting and shooting. I hope you enjoy this session as much as I did!

The Homolyas

This was a special shoot for me. I have been photographing Jessica and Ken for a while now. I took photos of them while they were dating, I did their wedding, and now, I get to photograph them and their first son! What an honor! The morning was exceptionally chilly, but they were *fantastic* troopers! And little Ken did mind at all!!! I, on the other hand, was scared to death that he would freeze to death...but this is due to the fact that I have an irrational fear of my own son turning into a block of ice. I'm not kidding Internet, that kid could be S-W-E-A-T-I-N-G and I'd put a blanket on him!
I hope you enjoy this session as much as I did. I look forward to watching this little family grow!!

Our Little Boy

Five months ago, I was standing in his room, rubbing my belly, terrified of becoming a mother. I was scared of what was coming. Not of the birth, but of...afterwards. What am I supposed to do with a baby? Everyone told me I'd be fine, but I wasn't so sure about that. I was petrified that I wouldn't have that ooey-gooey feeling all women say you get when you see your child for the first time. I was legitimately afraid that he wouldn't like me. What if I just wasn't cut out for this? Then, it happened...the switch flipped. All my previous concerns melted away...and a whole new crop grew in their place.

How do I keep him safe outside of my belly?

Is he getting enough to eat?

Is he supposed to sleep this much?

Is he still breathing?

Within a few weeks I started to mellow out. We were starting to understand each other as mother and child. We were developing our own little language. I was falling deeper and deeper in love with him.

I love his little blonde hairs,

his full, bright red lips,

his toothless smile.

I love the way he buries his head into my shoulder when someone speaks to him,

& the way his eyes seem to look deep into my soul.

I love his giggles & squeals,

& the way he wraps his arms tight around my neck when I pick him up.

I love it when he rests his head on my chest, sucks his thumb, & goes to sleep.

I love him more and more everyday.

He is my greatest accomplishment.

The past five months have flown by. I know I will soon blink and he will be all grown up. But for now, I will enjoy this time, with my sweet baby Wyatt Boy.

Kane & Lyssa

This past Tuesday I had the pleasure of photographing Kane & Lyssa. They are an awesome couple with a sweet sense of style. Lyssa would say she needs "help" in that department, but I disagree! Kane is incredibly smart and seems fearless {he was jumping fences and chasing geese to get the shots!}. I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of this shoot. Thanks for making it a fun day guys! Here are a few of my personal favorite photos taken...I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

{Kane picked these flowers for his sweet wife}

Kane & Lyssa also have this wicked I arrived early to snap a few shots:

I hope you enjoyed this little preview. You can see more at my Facebook page, SMG Photography and if you are interested in booking me, email me at!

The Williams Family

A while back, Elise contacted me about doing photos in the fall for her little family. I was stoked! This last Saturday was the big day. We had beautiful weather and a baby that was behaving wonderfully. My husband and I met Kirk and Elise at our church and they are two of the most giving people. Elise is the hospitality QUEEN and Kirk is a great family man! I had fun you guys! Here are a few personal favs of the day:
